Everyone can tolerate pain differently. While people have different pain thresholds, that does not mean they do not want to manage the pain. When it comes to pain after oral surgery, people have options to turn to that depend on what they need. Part of pain management is to have a plan about what to do after jaw surgery. Understanding the PainIt is normal to have some pain and discomfort after jaw surgery. The question people need to ask is what type of pain and how long will it last after the surgery. Pain is often a sign that something is wrong with the body. While some pain and discomfort are normal after jaw surgery, it could also mean that there is something wrong that needs attention. To understand your pain, think about what it is. The level of pain, is it contestant are there certain things that trigger more pain are the question you need to ask. Once you understand the pain, you can take steps to manage it. Ways to Manage PainThere are several ways to manage the pain after jaw surgery. It is possible to use one of them or a combination of them to help manage the pain. The pain from jaw surgery should diminish over time. When the pain is more than you can take or if it does not seem to get better after a few days, it is best to come into our office for more help.
