Forehead & Eyebrows
As you get older, your skin begins to lose its elasticity. Even though you might not feel your age, your skin starts to droop, giving the rest of the world the impression that you have gotten older. Your face is one of the first places to show your age, including your forehead and eyebrows. Dr. Haigneyof Lake Norman Oral & Facial Surgery is highly trained in endoscopic brow lifts, as well as other facial cosmetic, oral, and reconstructive surgical procedures.
Why an endoscopic browlift?
Your skin naturally loses elasticity over time, resulting in sagging. For your forehead, this means deep wrinkles across and frown lines between your eyebrows. Your eyebrows have sunk lower and you might even have some excess skin hanging over your eyes, which can affect your ability to see. Not only do you look old, you may even look sad or angry. This can lead to people getting the wrong impression and you may become self-conscious.
An endoscopic brow lift offers a number of benefits:
Before Your Surgery
Before you can have an endoscopic browlift, you must first schedule a consultation with Dr. Haigney. He will discuss your medical history and your goals for the outcome of your procedure with you to determine if you are a good candidate. He will also examine your forehead and eyebrows and take photographs in order to show the difference after your procedure.
In most procedures, such as a mid-forehead or a coronal lift, incisions are made that will result in visible scars. An endoscopic brow lift, the newest in brow lift procedures, hides the scars left from any incisions. Cuts are made behind the hairline, and an endoscope is used to aid in the procedure. For many patients, this procedure results in no visible scarring and a faster healing time.
After your procedure is finished, your results should be immediately noticeable. Dr. Haigney will provide you with post-operative care instructions. It is important to keep your head elevated and rest, avoiding any strenuous activities. Typically, incisions will start to heal after a week or so, but it can take several weeks for swelling to completely dissipate. After the incisions begin to heal, you should be able to start getting back to your old routine, though you should ease yourself back into any rigorous activities. You should be completely healed within a few months.
