Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires up to 6 additional years of hospital based surgical and anesthesia training. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Haigney manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. Dr. Haigney practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from cosmetic facial surgery, facial reconstruction, obstructive sleep apnea, head & neck tumor removal, corrective jaw surgery and wisdom tooth removal. He can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial trauma, TMJ disorders, and performs a full range of dental implant procedures.

Dr. Haigney is double board certified. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, as well as a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
Dr. Haigney’s staff is trained in assisting with services ranging from local anesthesia, nitrous oxide (laughing gas), I.V. sedation to general anesthesia within our state of the art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.
The surgical staff at Lake Norman Oral & Facial Surgery are experienced oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants. All staff members are informed administrative personnel, well-versed in health and insurance policies and are CPR certified.
Dental implants are commonly recommended for patients who have lost teeth due to decay or injury. Titanium anchors are inserted into the bone and covered by a dental cap or denture. After the implant is placed, a replacement tooth or bridge is attached to it.
